Romans 12:12-13

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”

Seek to show hospitality!

The early Christian approach to life profoundly shaped how the Church impacted its world. The early church continually gathered and ate in homes and the Lord added to their number daily.

They were a community that visited prisoners, cared for the sick, housed travellers and used their finance to shape a world of sufficiency, forgiveness and goodness.

We as modern day Christians should learn from the early Christians.

We live in a world that tries to tell us that we should be afraid of the stranger. That those with certain religious backgrounds, with different skin colour than us are dangerous and should be pushed aside, sent back to where they came from.

However, what if these people are exactly the strangers we are supposed to entertain and not neglect? But show hospitality to? What if by doing so we entertain angels?

Let us not be blinded by the deficits and shortages of the world so much that we forget of the generosity our God displayed when he gave his best - his son - for some strangers.
