Ducks

Genesis 1:21
“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Many baby birds are really quite ugly, but there are some exceptions. Chief among these must be ducks, whose offspring must be among the prettiest and most delightful of all chicks.

Ducks have a long history with humans. Wild ducks are hunted, and semi-wild ducks populate artificial ponds in public parks. It would be common for my parents to suggest on a sunny Sunday afternoon that we go and feed the ducks in the park. Ducks are also often domesticated. I like to keep a few ducks because I like their eggs much better than those of chickens.

Like all birds, ducks are assumed to have evolved from dinosaurs. But this assumption causes evolutionists no end of difficulty. For example, one duck fossil was discovered in Cretaceous rock that was assigned an evolutionary age of 70 million years. If evolutionary dates were true, the duck fossil would be older than the therapod dinosaurs from which it is thought to have evolved. This poses a problem for evolutionists, and one well-known online encyclopedia says very little about duck evolution, even though its articles normally give copious alleged evolutionary evidence for other creatures. Even the fossil’s discoverers were forced to admit “at least duck, chicken and ratite bird relatives were co-extant with non-avian dinosaurs”.

The duck family, or Anatidae, includes not only ducks, but also geese and swans. They bear witness to the large amount of information that God created with them, to enable so much variety.

Prayer: Grant us wisdom, Lord, as we investigate the world in which You have placed us, and may we give You all the honor and glory. Amen.
