TRY ONE MORE TIME
If you continue, you will conquer. If you refuse to be discouraged, you will succeed. If you will try one more time, you’ll have a great result. You will come back stronger than ever!
If you give up you will miss out. You will never see what God can do. There are so many good things God wants to do in your life. And it’s simply a matter of just persevering through. Maybe even today you are just ready to call it quits. You are ready to give up.
The dream is over. The setback is just too great and there can be no comeback. Life stinks, life is hard, life is unfair. And then you hear these words of Jesus and you are challenged to think differently. You are challenged to readjust your attitude.
Luke 5: 4-7 says: “When Jesus had finished speaking, he told Simon, ‘Row the boat out into the deep water and let your nets down to catch some fish. Master, Simon answered we’ve worked hard all night long and have not caught a thing. But if you tell me to, I will let the nets down.’ They did it and caught so many fish that their nets began ripping apart. Then they signaled for their partners in the other boat to come and help them. The men came, and together they filled the two boats so full that they both began to sink.”
Cast out the nets one more time. You are being encouraged through the words and example of Jesus to try again. Peter’s response may be like yours, “We’ve worked all night long! We’ve worked hard all night long and we haven’t caught a thing!” I believe Jesus’ words ring true today as they did almost 2,000 years ago.
I think that Jesus would say to us: “Cast out your nets again. Do not give up. Do not give in to the disappointment that you may feel. Refuse to have quitting as an option in your life.” Peter listened to Jesus and did what he said. And they caught so many fish their nets began ripping apart. They had to signal for their partners to come and help them.
Wow! What a comeback, what a turnaround from nothing to more than they could even handle. Fishing was their livelihood, all these fish meant provision for their needs. And God will do the same for you.
