Now when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry and greatly enraged, and he jeered at the Jews.

--Nehemiah 4:1

When Nehemiah was rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, he learned firsthand what it was like to face opposition.

In the same way, you and I will face opposition from Satan when we work to build up the body of Christ and defend it against evil.

It’s been said that when God’s church works, Satan’s kingdom roars. The same applies in your personal life.

The great evangelist D.L. Moody used to say, “The devil never kicks a dead horse.”

If you are a growing believer, the devil will try to make you struggle and give up. He will send people or thoughts to mock you, confuse you, and oppose you. Nehemiah had hecklers the entire time his team tried to follow God’s leading!

So don’t be discouraged and quit when things get difficult. Pray for strength to stay the course in whatever God has called you to do. When Satan attacks you, take it as a good sign, because you are a threat to him!
