So I prayed to the God of heaven.

--Nehemiah 2:4

Numerous articles and studies, both Christian and secular, show me a disturbing trend. Well-known pollster George Gallup, Jr. said, “Fewer than 10% of Americans are deeply committed Christians.”

What disturbs me about that statistic is that far more than 10% of Americans claim to follow Christ when asked about faith or about their beliefs.

Studies go on to reveal how most people who claim to believe in Jesus are just as likely to engage in unethical behavior or fall prey to the latest religious fad.

One of the best ways I can think of to become a more committed Christian is simple: Pray fervently! In the second chapter of Nehemiah, we see Nehemiah petitioning the Lord constantly because his heart was troubled over his homeland of Judah.

Prayer makes all the difference. Without it, we don’t stand apart from the world. We need to constantly be in communication with our Lord. I pray today you will develop a passion for prayer that makes your life different!

A FERVENT PRAYER LIFE WILL DEEPEN YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE LORD.
