The king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.

--Nehemiah 2:8

The door of opportunity swings on the hinges of prayer! All real success comes when God opens the door for us.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Once Jesus opens that door, no one can shut it on you!

Nehemiah knocked on the door of opportunity in the second chapter of Nehemiah. He wanted to take action, but he waited for God to open the door. He learned a valuable lesson about leadership: In order to lead, you must first follow. Nehemiah followed God by asking Him to help him go back to Jerusalem to rebuild the city wall.

Remember, it won’t do you any good to break down a door and rush through it if God does not open it.

IN ORDER TO LEAD, YOU MUST FIRST LEARN TO FOLLOW.
