Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

--Isaiah 5:20

We live in a culture that is always looking for the next best thing…that thinks the newer something is, the better it is. In this kind of culture, it’s very difficult for people today to believe that something written thousands of years ago—like the Ten Commandments—could still be valid.

But I want you to know that even though the Ten Commandments were handed to Moses thousands of years ago, they are more up-to-date and relevant than today’s newspaper. The Ten Commandments are not obsolete, they’re absolute! They are the very heart and mind of God…not of Moses or any other human being.

The problem is that people today don’t really like to be commanded. They want to come up with their own list of acceptable behavior and live by that. After all, we’re told, everything is just a matter of choice anyway.

It’s sad that most people see the Ten Commandments as a list of “don’ts” designed to squash everyone’s fun. God is perceived as being a cosmic killjoy trying to make everyone toe the line. But the Ten Commandments are far from being a list of prohibitions. They are in fact, an infallible guide to help us find true contentment and happiness

We live in a “Burger King” society where we want it our way! But God has an infinitely better plan. As believers we need to commit ourselves to live our lives by God’s clear directives…and through that obedience…help those around us see what happens when we live according to God’s plan.

When others see God at work in our lives in such a positive and life-changing way, they will want the same peace, joy, and satisfaction they see in us.

PUT THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD FIRST IN YOUR LIFE SO OTHERS WILL SEE THE JOY, PEACE, AND SATISFACTION IT CAN BRING!
