It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king's house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful. And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, “Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her.

--2 Samuel 11:2-4

Imagine a sleepy-eyed David strolling out on his balcony for a breath of fresh air. Perhaps he accidentally caught a glimpse of Bathsheba. But he didn’t have to keep watching! His greatest sin started innocently enough, but it didn’t stay innocent.

David opened the door, and Satan waltzed right through it!

Are there doors in your life that you’ve cracked…only to have the enemy kick them wide open? Are there attitudes you shouldn’t have, or sin that needs to be addressed?

David repented, and God forgave him completely. So what is stopping you from doing the same thing?

Your sin, whatever it is, doesn’t have to continue taking you downhill. The same God who loved and forgave David loves and will forgive you. All you have to do is ask and turn from your sin.

How much does God want to forgive you and bring you back to Himself? So much that He gave His only Son just for you!

Today I encourage you to soften your heart. Allow God to cleanse and forgive you. Remember, it’s God who loves you, made you, and wants you in fellowship with Him. This is the life for which He designed you! Don’t settle for anything less.

the same god who loved and forgave david’s sin, loves and will forgive you.
