The indictment against all of humanity

January 10, 2011

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Romans 1:18-20

There are some Bible verses that people like to get printed on coffee cups and T-shirts, but this isn't one of them. What this is, however, is an accurate picture of the condition of all of humanity apart from God. You see, the disease of sin has infected each and every person, and God has to demonstrate his wrath toward that sin because he is perfect.

The apostle Paul tells us here that every person has enough information through creation, what we call ‘general revelation', to understand God's eternal power and divine nature. Every leaf, every flower, every rock, every river, every hill, every valley, and every mountain bears his signature!

So to look at creation without acknowledging its true Creator is enough of an indictment to incur the wrath of God. Now I realize that flies in the face of popular religion today which says that all paths lead to God. But if that's true, what would be the point of spreading the Gospel? We might as well bring all the missionaries home and turn the Great Commission into the Great Suggestion!

There is one way to God, through his Son, Jesus Christ. So as you live your life, do it with the purpose of leading others to him because apart from the grace of Christ there is only wrath.

TRUSTING IN JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO ESCAPE GOD'S HOLY WRATH. SO MAKE YOUR MAIN PURPOSE IN LIFE LEADING OTHERS TO CHRIST.
