Trusting in Christ to overcome the evil one

November 16, 2010

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1

I read recently that when hotels host Christian conferences, the number of adult movies purchased is generally higher than at any other type of conference. Facts like these lead me to believe that the church is under a focused attack by the evil one today.

Whether you know it or not, Satan is just looking for a way he can infiltrate the hearts and minds of God's people and fill them with his lies. And if the church doesn't recognize this spiritual truth, she is on the path to becoming lukewarm and useless, just like the church in Laodicea (Revelation 3:16).

Unless you're trusting in the Lord, you'll be like the watchman in the passage above who stays awake all night for no reason. That's because Satan isn't afraid of you… he's afraid of your Savior! When you try to live for Christ on your own, you're going to be disappointed. But if you  proclaim Christ as your protector and live for him, the evil one will have no foothold in your life.

So instead of trusting in yourself to be good enough to avoid the devil's schemes, trust in Christ, who defeated Satan on the cross so you could live in victory!

CHRIST HAS DEFEATED SATAN. SO TRUST IN HIM EACH DAY AND LIVE IN THE VICTORY HE WON FOR YOU ON THE CROSS!
