Becoming a global Christian

October 1, 2008

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

--Acts 1:8

Do you know what it means to be a global Christian?

Becoming a global Christian starts with a personal commitment. Each of us—every Bible-believing man, woman, and young person—needs to make and take our personal witness for Jesus Christ personally.

Our verse today says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

If you want to live under the Lordship of Christ… if you want to be an obedient, Spirit-filled Christian… then you must take seriously the commandment of Christ to be a personal witness for Him.

Now, everyone’s a witness, of course. You’re either a good witness or a bad witness. You’re either witnessing positively for Christ or negatively for Christ. But we’re all witnesses of Jesus Christ!

But we’re not only to witness with our lives, we’re to witness with our lips. If we want to live a significant life and get beyond ourselves and our own little world, we will do what Jesus said to do and that is to be salt and light.

Salt penetrates and light illuminates. And every one of us can be salt and every one of us can be light right where we live. “Well,” you say, “I don’t really have a witness.  I really don’t have that great of a testimony.”

Christian, it doesn’t matter how small you think your life is. You can penetrate the darkness for Jesus Christ. And besides that, you’re called to do it!

Today, it’s my prayer that you will make and take your witness for Jesus personally so you can be the global Christian that God has called you to be!

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR ACTIONS TODAY. ARE YOU REFLECTING THE CHARACTER OF JESUS CHRIST?
