The Shame Tape Chronicles: Perfection
In a recent article from Psychology Today, Sara Canaday says, “Separate your self-worth from perfectionism: “you” are not the outcome of the project. Perfection is not wrong to aspire to. It becomes harmful to a person's self-worth when tied to the outcome of perfection.
Human nature is to judge a man based on his perfection and performance.
1 Samuel 16:7 says, “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
God’s nature is to value and judge the heart of man. The God of all creation does not measure worth based on performance and perfection. He sees the heart. It is by the heart that he knows us and says that we are his beloved children.
