wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your

            understanding being enlightened . . .

(Ephesians 1:17-18a)

 

The spirit of wisdom results from that operation wherein God’s Spirit creates a new human capacity of perception. Available to the believer is a deep discernment of the basic nature of things as they really are. Knowledge is the rare trait of learning with perception—discovering and growing. Knowledge without wisdom, however, is a menace. Wisdom coordinates knowledge and sees into the very heart of things. Wisdom is the ability to see with discernment, to view life as God perceives it. Understanding is the skill to respond with insight.
