The Right Mindset – Beloved Women – December 8, 2022
READ: “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: If-then statements are known as conditional statements. In other words, if one thing is true, then it follows that something else will happen. In this verse, if we have been raised into a new life with Christ by His resurrection, then we will seek the things of God. Our minds will not be set on temporary, earthly things, but rather on eternal, heavenly things.
In our daily lives, we can become consumed with worries associated with bad relationships, poor health and strained finances. While all of these are reasonable topics for concern, they are all temporary. Instead our minds should be set on our relationship with God, our spiritual health and our investment in heavenly treasures. If we make a decision to live for God, then we must focus on Him. If we choose to put God first, then we must prioritize His will for our lives. If we want to develop the right mindset, then we must set our minds on God.
PRAY: Father, I choose to set my mind on You and on things above. Help me to always put You first and foremost in my life. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: What are you most focused on? Is your mind set on heavenly things or on earthly things?
