“Do You Hear Me?”

Do you ever feel like your hearing is distorted?  Do things sound muffled to you? Do you strain to hear clearly?  If you answered yes to all these questions, then the diagnosis might be, “Hard of hearing related to hearing loss!”  Actually, that would definitely be complaints that someone might give if indeed their hearing is decreasing.  But, what about our spiritual hearing.  Do you hear God as loudly as you used to?  Or, have you ever heard God speaking to your spirit?  God is trying to get our attention, but there are so many “louder” sounds it’s difficult to hear that small still voice.  Think about this, if you have someone’s attention you don’t have to shout at them.  They are focused on you and are waiting to communicate with you.

I have met so many Christians that tell me, “I can’t hear God, what’s wrong with me?”  Well the first question I ask them is, “Do you know how to distinguish God’s voice?  And, most of them say, no!”  If you don’t know how to recognize God’s voice then you will be confused….

There are four voices that you will hear…..

1.      Your voice

2.      The world’s voice

3.      The devil’s voice

4.      God’s voice

Here’s an easy tip…..The devil will never tell you anything good, or positive to do.  He will always be opposite of what God would say.  Sometimes we are our own worst enemy and the world often tells you why you can’t achieve your dreams.  But the Lord speaks softly most of the time and He will never lead you to a dead end.  God gently challenges us, motivates us; encouraging us to reach for impossibilities.

Maybe you need to adjust what you are listening to.  God will speak if you give him an opportunity to be heard.  Don’t make your time with him a one way conversation.  Give him time to reply to you.  God loves communication and speaks to us on many different levels.  God is asking, “My child, do you hear me?”  He wants to speak, He wants to converse with you.  Don’t make time; take time to spend with the Lord.  Without communication with others, you won’t be speaking at all.  Don’t make God a stranger, you need Him and you need to hear what He is trying to say to you.  Do you hear him?
