5 MISPERCEPTIONS ABOUT YOUR DREAM
Many people are not living their dreams. They've given up on them. They've rationalized that they are unrealistic or they can't be done. You can overcome the roadblocks that have kept you from fulfilling your dreams. Instead of giving up, recognize these misperceptions about dreams.
I DON’T HAVE A DREAM
The first misperception about dreams is simply this: "I don't have a dream. I'm a simple person. It doesn't take much to make me happy." You do have dreams because every human being created by God is given a God-given dream. It isn't that you don't have a dream. It's that you've chosen in some way to ignore it.
I HAVE TO INVENT MY OWN DREAM
The next misperception about dreams is that, "I've got to figure out what this dream is." You don't have to invent it. It's been planted in you already. God has given you that dream and frankly it was already in his mind before you were ever born. I love the scripture in Jeremiah 1:5 where the Bible tells us, "Before you were even born, Jeremiah, I chose you to speak for me." You need to simply discover your dream. You don't have to invent it. God has taken care of that part for you.
MY DREAM IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT
Here is another misperception. "I have a dream, but it's not that important.” No one else can fulfill the dream except you if God has given it to you. And who is to say what is or is not important? In the end, the only thing that matters is what you think about it and what God has led you to do, not what other people's opinions may be.
I HAVE A DREAM BUT GOD HAS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
A fourth misperception is, "I have a dream but God has to make it happen. Well, I have a dream and as soon as God wants to start moving in that direction, it will all come true." You must do something. When we do all we can do, God does what only he can do. You need to do your part and God will certainly do his part.
I HAD A DREAM BUT IT IS TOO LATE
This final misperception may be the one that applies to most people today, "I had a dream but it is too late. That ship has sailed, that dream is dead." It's never too late. You never know what God can do. You never know how God can work. Don't tell yourself it's too late. Overcome your dream misperceptions.
