"Everybody hurts. Many of us know God has the power to heal. Sometimes we don’t know how to experience that healing on a personal level. Using the Christ-centered 12 steps to recovery, learn how to live the abundant life Jesus promised us – freedom from plaguing "hurts, habits, and hang-ups". This program combines biblical teaching with insights into issues related to today’s most pressing issues – addiction, codependency, depression and anxiety disorders, messy marriages, parenting conundrums, broken relationships, and more."
Host Biography
Teresa McBean is Minister of NorthStar Community Church and a passionate believer in God's power to restore, renew and rejuvenate even the most desperately hurting people in our world today. As a result of her life experiences at NorthStar Community, McBean has written about and regularly speaks on a variety of topics that are currently plaguing our families, communities and churches. Issues such as: addiction, codependency, relationship problems, family dysfunction, emotional upheaval, and more are discussed and dissected from a Biblical perspective. Often her messages commentate on the Christ-centered 12-Step Recovery Model, a tool NorthStar Community Church uses and finds effective for restoring even the most broken and downtrodden individuals in our world today. Teresa has a weekly television program, daily devotionals, 12-Step Study materials and other publications designed to help people find their freedom. These materials and teachings reach people in 47 states and 16 countries via the web site www.NorthStarCommunity.com, helping hurting people all over the world find their way back to God. Teresa (a graduate of the University of Virginia and a certified biblical counselor) and her husband Peter have been married for over 25 years, have three children they adore, and make their home in Richmond, VA. Pete and Teresa have been members of Bon Air Baptist Church for almost thirty years; NorthStar Community is a ministry of Bon Air Baptist Church.

The twelve steps are a remarkable tool for self-reflection and personal growth. Perhaps you've only thought of them as a recovery tool; maybe the only people you've ever met who have studied them are people with addiction issues. I want to bust through this myth about the mysterious twelve steps to recovery -- they are for everyone. I've never met a person who didn't become more transformed, more like Christ, more the person God created them to be, after working the twelve steps. They are hard work -- but the by-product is a life filled with freedom and love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control (Galatians 5:22) -- who among us doesn't yearn for such a life? In the Christian community these steps have sometimes been viewed with suspicion. Read on...
