A BETTER COVENANT

HEBREWS 8:6 (NKJV)

6. But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

We are not under the Old Covenant. We are under the New Covenant--a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Under the Old Covenant, people were anointed. They were not filled with the Spirit like we are under the New Covenant. They had to have an anointing. You do not find anything about a double anointing in the New Testament, such as Elisha had in the Old Covenant. (II Kings 2:9)

How can you have double of that which is perfect? The scripture says, ...He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (I John 4:4). This scripture does not say you need to have the anointing come on you. It says to be filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the anointing in us. He works through us, not on us, as He did in the Old Covenant. Everyone in the Old Covenant, including Elisha, was a sinner. They were spiritually dead and had no contact with God. Therefore, He had to deal with them outwardly, in the realm of the senses. We are privileged to have the Spirit of God living and abiding in us. We have a Better Covenant with Better Promises. The promise of the Holy Spirit.
