Be Wise - Do The Word!
Matthew 7:24-27. (NKJV)
24. "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25. "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26. "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27. "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
Building your house on "the rock" means doing God’s Word when you hear it -- and not just hearing it. A person who does not do the Word of God is foolish because he knows what to do to be able to stand against the rains, the floods, and the winds of life yet he is unwilling to do what the Word says. But a person who does God’s Word is wise because he is building his life on a firm foundation that will enable him to stand against all the storms of life.
This scripture says both men experienced the same storm, but one man stood while the other did not. This lets you know that it was not the wind, the rain, and the flood that actually brought the foolish man’s house down, but the foolish man’s own foolishness in neglecting to be a doer of God’s Word. So you see, acting on the Word of God is what determines whether you will stand or fall when the circumstances of life come against you. Be wise; be a doer of God’s Word!
