Do Not Be Carnally Minded

 

Romans 8:6-8 (NKJV):

6. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7. Because the carnal mind is opposed to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 

 8. So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

 

Even as a born-again believer you can be either carnally minded or spiritually minded. The choice is yours. If you stay in the Word, pray, meditate, and walk by His Spirit, you will be spiritually minded. Otherwise, it is so easy for you to be carnally minded and thus operate from a rebellious mind that is not and will not be subject to the will of God. The key then to having a spiritual mind is submission – obedience. You must deny your will in order that the Word (and will) of the Father may rule in your life. You must do this not by how you feel, but by what you will. By faith, you must decide to live an obedient life, and then you can expect to please God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).  Those who are in the flesh – carnally minded – cannot please God. Only those who walk by faith will please the Father and receive His reward.
