Do Your Words Have Value?
Matthew 12: 35-37 (NKJV)
35 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
36 "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Idle words are words that have no value. They do not edify or build you up. They do not profit you in any way. According to Jesus, we will give an account of those words.
Jesus did not say we would be justified or condemned by our deeds, but by our words. The reason why Jesus said, " By thy words," is your deeds or actions will be based on your words. If we speak badly long enough, we will act badly.
We can see how important our words are. We not only affect our lives, but we are also justified or condemned by them. So we should speak good and positive words that edify and build up.
