Does Your Confession Agree With The Word?
Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The Greek word for "confession" is homologeo, and it means "to agree with" or "say the same thing God says about you and/or your circumstances." It does not mean, per se, to confess a negative. Most of the time, however, we are confessing something that we have done wrong. Do not misunderstand, if you do something wrong, then confess it according to I John 1:9. But, what we are referring to here is the principle that generates life or death. It is through your confession that you will add life to your life or death to your life. Just think about it, by confessing Jesus to be the Lord of your life and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you received the gift of salvation. That is a whole lot of power. We literally passed from death to life based on our confession.
