God Is Moved by Faith
1 Kings 19:11-13 (NKJV):
11. Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;
12. and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
13. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
When Elijah fled from Jezebel, He went to Mount Horeb to seek the Lord. It was on Mount Horeb, also known as Mount Sinai, that the Lord had revealed Himself to Moses in a mighty and wondrous way. But the Lord did not reveal Himself to Elijah in the same spectacular manner that He had shown Himself to Moses on that same mountaintop. God came to Elijah in a still, small voice. The same is likely to be true for us because we do not have a promise from God that He will show up and show out for us in the big way that He has for someone else. But we do have a promise that He will definitely meet us at our point of need. Coming into the presence of God and experiencing His power is not the result of going to where so-and-so went and doing what so-and-so did, no matter how great a man of God so-and-so is or was. God is moved only by our faith – by our acting on the Word of God.
