Jesus Is Our Big Brother
Romans 8:29 (NKJV)
29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Paul stated in this verse that God foreknew we would choose Him, so He predestined us to be conformed to the image of Christ, that He might be the first among many brethren. When some people first hear this, they think you are implying that Jesus was a sinner, who needed to be born again. THAT IS NOT TRUE! We are the brothers of Christ. How did we become His brothers? We became His brothers by being born again. So, if He is the firstborn, then He must have been born again from spiritual death into spiritual life. Therefore, there must have been a point at which He was spiritually dead. He did this so as to identify with our position as a sinner, although He Himself did not sin. Jesus' decision to pay the price for our sin, positioned man to be able to receive son ship in God, thus resulting with us being able to be called His brothers.
