Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

 

John 14:27 (NKJV):

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

 

Jesus makes a profound statement here. He says that He gives us peace. But He goes on to add “not as the world gives.” There is a difference between what the peace world thinks it can have and the peace that God gives. When God gives us peace, we do not need to be concerned or afraid of the circumstances that may surround us.

 

Jesus Himself goes on to tell us not to let our heart be troubled neither let it be afraid. Notice the word let. That implies that it is up to us. We have to make a decision to be at peace and not be troubled. When we keep God's Word in our heart and speak the Word with our mouths, the Word will help to keep us at peace and not let our heart be troubled.
