Let the Spirit Man Be in Control

 

Luke 9:23 (NKJV):

And He said to them all, "If anyone desire to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."

 

You have probably asked the question: Why would anyone want to deny himself? Well, the Word tells us that you are made up of spirit, soul, and body. Your spirit is new in Christ, but your body and mind (soul) are the same. As a sinner, your worldly mind was use to telling your body what to do to fulfill every fleshly desire. Therefore, your mind has to be renewed by the Word of God. As you feed your spirit, you in turn starve your flesh. This puts your spirit man in the driver’s seat, and as the Word says, "you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh." You must take inventory of self and line up everything with the Word of God.  We must allow our spirit man to be the dominate one.
