Let Your Light Shine
Matthew 5:15-16 (NKJV)
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Jesus was dealing with selfishness. When it comes to being a light, it is going to require a whole lot of selfless living. This is not to the exclusion of your life, because in order to be a blessing, you must have something to bless with. Our light is what gives life to men. The world has nothing to offer but death-filled words. What we have to offer is life-filled words that will bring hope into their lives.
But, it is up to us to reflect that light. Jesus addressed the issue of selfishness because they were not willing to share their light with the rest of the people in the house. To live an unselfish life will require an act of faith on our part and a willing heart to be a blessing. Choose this day to be that light to those you will face today and you will be blessed above and beyond what you can think and imagine.
