Living the Abundant Life

 

John 10:10 (NKJV)

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

 

The purpose of becoming a Christian and living the Christian life is not only so you can go to heaven. In fact, you don’t live to go to heaven -- you have to die to go to heaven! You live to have life. And Jesus desires that you live this life "more abundantly." 

 

Why is your living an abundant life in Him so very important to Jesus? Because not only did He die for you to be able to enjoy this life, but Jesus knew that as you enjoy the abundant life He has made possible for you to have, your life would become a beacon and a witness before all men of His saving power. So, salvation is not all about the "hereafter," but is also for the "here and now" so that in you the world can see "here and now" that Jesus truly is the way, the truth, and the life.
