Principle Of Faith
Genesis 12:2 (NKJV)
2. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
God told Abraham four things. He said: (1) "I will make of thee a great nation," (2) "I will bless thee," (3) "I will make thy name great," (4) "I will make thee to be a blessing." This tells me that while Abraham was living at home with his kindred in his country, he was not blessed, he was not a blessing, his name was not great and he was not a great nation. There is a spiritual truth here that can help us in understanding how faith works. God told Abraham to "Get thee out" and go into a foreign country. Abraham had to go before he knew where he was going. He had to be completely reliant on the One who had told him to go. To the average person, that does not make sense. That is absolutely right! It does not make sense, it makes faith! Faith is an action, and Abraham going from his country and family was an action that was solely based on the Word of God. That is faith!
