Speaking What God Says
Romans 4:16,17
16. Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.
17. (as it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations") in the presence of Him whom he believed; God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.
Romans 4:17 says that God calls those things which do not exist as though they did. It is not saying that God calls those things which do exist as though they did not. It is very important to see this distinction; I am not just making a play on words. Unfortunately, many Christians have not made this distinction, and that is where they have made their mistake. They may have thought they were calling those things which do not exist as though they did, but they were actually saying the reverse, and that is an entirely different principle. Faith does not say that there is no disease. When you say there is no disease, that is when you start getting over into the philosophy practiced by Science of Mind and Christian Science. To say there is no disease is like calling God an imbecile.
Do you know why? Because one of God's redemptive names is Jehovah-rapha, which means, "I am the Lord who heals you." The point is that we are to call those things which be not as though they were, this means we are to confess the Word of God, rather than the circumstance. God knew that we would face some of the challenges in this world, that is why He gave us His Word so that we can resist the enemies influence. As Jesus resisted the devil, so likewise must you. He stood on the Word and confessed the Word every time the devil gave Him a suggestion. Speak what God says, not your circumstance.
