The Saving Of The Soul

James 1:21 (NKJV)
21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Some may say that their soul is already saved. Why would James write this to the Body of Christ if their souls were saved already? If this were already done, he would have said: "Receive with teachableness the engrafted word which has saved your soul." However, the saving of the soul is an ongoing process, a replacing of the old nature trained and programmed by the world with the things of God. This must be done by studying and hearing the Word and through prayer. The salvation of the spirit is instantaneous. You are born again instantly. Redemption of the real you is a free gift, and all you have to do is to receive it. But the soul and the physical body have to be brought up to the standard of Jesus as found in the Bible until such time as He returns or we go to be with the Him. It is our responsibility to renew this mind, it does not automatically come with salvation. So, we have a lot of work to do, but, we can do all things through Christ.
