Wait For The Promise

 

 

 

Genesis 17:18-19.(NKJV)

 

18. And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!19. Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

 

For Abraham, the promise of God was in Isaac, not Ishmael. Like Abraham, we all have our Ishmael’s. We all have those "good" ideas that are not God’s ideas. But it is what God thinks that is going to last and it is what God promises that will come to pass. So, if we want to receive the promises of God, then we have to line ourselves up with what God has to offer, instead of trying to offer God what we think is right and sufficient. Don’t offer God your Ishmael when He wants Isaac!
