Where Is Your Heart?

Matthew 6:19-21. (NKJV)

19. "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

20. "but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Living by faith does not mean you live only hand-to-mouth and always get what you need just in the nick of time. No! You may start out this way, but eventually you should be developing your faith by developing a savings account for yourself.

However, in this passage of Scripture, Jesus warns not to put your faith in the bank account that you are developing! The point He is making is that your heart and trust should always remain in God and doing the things of God. It is not that Jesus is opposed to you having a bank account. He could not have been -- Jesus had a money bag himself! It is just that He wants you to be sure that it is only your money that you are putting into your earthly bank account and not your faith!
