But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan—this rebirth comes from God. - John 1:12-13

What is the will of God? The will of God is revealed in the context of our personal relationship with him. To know the will of God, we have to be part of his family. We can know the will of God the Father only if we have been “reborn” by the Holy Spirit into the Father’s family. We do this by believing in Jesus and accepting him as Savior. “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn! . . . This rebirth comes from God” (John 1:12-13). How can we be sure that we are part of God’s family? God promised it: “You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).

When we have become members of God’s family, we will want to learn what brings our Father pleasure, and we will begin to understand what the head of our family wants for us. As children grow older and get to know their human father, they soon come to understand what pleases or displeases him, brings him honor or shame, delights or disappoints him. They also grow in their perception of his hopes and dreams for them.

Have you joined the family? The Father is waiting to welcome you. Are you already in the family? Then talk to God. He’s not hiding his will from you—he wants you to know it, but he also wants you to know him. He will guide you one step at a time.
