12/31/2024
One of the most important things that we can do is to have gratitude and acknowledge what the Lord has done in a year before saying goodbye to it.
12/30/2024
When we ask God to prepare our hearts for a new year, what are we asking Him to accomplish in our lives? In looking at the life of Jesus, what did He do to prepare Himself to face each coming day and remain faithful?
12/29/2024
Seeking God in the year is a brilliant place to start with our new plans. He does not want you to make new resolutions or commitments that do not include Him.
12/28/2024
Whether you are reflecting on the positive aspects this season or the negative, we are all called to come before God with gratitude and seek Him first.
12/27/2024
God always shows up. God supplies sufficient strength when we call on and stay close to him.
12/26/2024
God will judge mankind and there will be no gray areas. Either we are with Jesus or we are not.
12/25/2024
Jesus’ birth is a time for great celebration. Although born hidden away in an obscure stable, His appearing brought the most spectacular baby announcement on Earth, with angels breaking forth from Heaven to bring the Good News of His birth.
12/24/2024
The fact is, all around us, there are many people, for many reasons, who are searching for Christ this Christmas. We may not see the choir of angels around us, but the heavenly host still proclaims Christ’s birth. It occurs all around us.
12/23/2024
This Christmas, remember how precious you are to the Creator. Remember that there is nothing you can do or say that would ever separate His presence and love from you. It’s okay to go through Christmas feeling alone and isolated, but make sure you turn to God to fill those feelings of loneliness.
12/22/2024
It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
12/21/2024
As you settle into this season, whether filled with joy or finding yourself in waves of grief, cling to the reminder that hope has come. Jesus is with you, His light will lead you, and He will meet your every need. Seek Him in the stillness and savor the work He is doing.
12/20/2024
Let’s commit this year to praying about ways our families and others can draw closer. Let’s read Jesus’ words and let them settle deep in our hearts. Do you have a family member right now who may be looking at family photos and longing to draw closer? May God open the door for deeper connection, togetherness, and love.
12/19/2024
Kids need to know they are loved beyond all else. For them, that's all that really matters, and from God, that's what He really and thankfully offers.
12/18/2024
God still wants us to tell him how we feel and look to him to help us navigate family relationships this year. He knows your family member’s heart and intention, and he knows your heart and intention. Remember, he created both of you!
12/17/2024
We don’t have to walk through this Christmas season alone with a heavy, broken heart. We can harness ourselves to Jesus and let Him carry the load of our heavy hearts.
12/16/2024
Christmas isn’t about the gifts, the food, or the clothes we wear. It is the anniversary of the Lord’s first advent into the world.
12/15/2024
For those not familiar, Advent is a four-week-long season of anticipation for the coming King. It is a time dedicated to anticipating the “arrival” or “advent” of the long-awaited Messiah, Jesus. There are four main reflections on hope, joy, love, and peace.
12/14/2024
A willing heart sets forth a fire to see and experience Jesus, and as we know, God will use any willingness directed toward Him to grab a child of God's attention. He will use His people and all His creation to draw us nearer to Himself.
12/13/2024
As my heart becomes more aligned with God's heart, through increased time in praise and His presence, my desires shift to His desires. And I start to see that I already have, or am in the process of unfolding, that which my heart ultimately longs for. And my contentment with the simple and small surrounding me swells.
12/12/2024
God is giving us time and opportunities to share His gift with others before it’s too late for them, and Christmas is a perfect time to do so.
12/11/2024
We want our adult children to be blessed and enjoy a relationship with God. As their parents, we can intercede for them by praying Scripture over them. God loves them and knows them. We can trust God to keep them close to his heart and give them wisdom through the busy holiday season when so many events and expectations keep them racing.
12/10/2024
God is with us, even when nobody else is present. Allow this truth to give your heart joy today.
12/09/2024
Intentional living as a couple that prioritizes prayer, connection, and God’s Word empowers us to love each other with Christ’s love even when pressures mount all around us.
12/08/2024
When we look at all that God has given us despite what we have done to him, it humbles us. It makes us want to give generously because he gave everything for us.
12/07/2024
God's Word doesn't say, "You will not face trials of any kind so long as your life is filled with joy." What it tells us is that we will face trials throughout all of life, and to count it as joy, which will lead to steadfastness.
12/06/2024
There is no greater gift you can give someone this season than your spirit-filled, joy-filled, Jesus-filled presence.
12/05/2024
One of the best times of the year can also be one of the most difficult. Harvest décor leads into Christmas bells and lights. We fill the calendar slots with parties and events. This can create a low-level hum of anxiety if the upcoming family get-togethers feel like a risky walk through a minefield.
12/04/2024
Freely giving of ourselves may seem and feel at times like it’s costing us more than we can afford. But instead, it’s adding up to more than we thought was possible to receive.
12/03/2024
As Christ's followers, we must also be FOR those who are in need, not content to live comfortably and blind to the spiritual war going on around us.
12/02/2024
My prayer for your heart and mine to this season, is that we would look to the fullness we have received in our relationship with God the Father. He has promised to counsel us, shepherd us, and sustain us through this time and all the temptations that come up against us.
12/01/2024
One of my least favorite four-letter words seems to be growing in popularity in modern culture. And I bet it’s one you’ve been hearing even more frequently in this bustling season too. Busy.
11/30/2024
Clinging to our faith encourages us to trust God wholeheartedly, therefore giving us the endurance and strength to care for and serve our loved ones.
11/29/2024
God is the hope we can cling to. A hope that will fortify our patience as we hold tight to it. And we keep seeking him.
11/28/2024
One way the Pilgrims showed thankfulness was by being generous with the Native Americans, sharing their faith, time, and harvest with them. Like them, we can stir up Thanksgiving gratefulness around us, too, by being generous.
11/27/2024
Sometimes, our hearts need a reminder to slow down and rest in the presence of the greatest gift ever given—the gift of Jesus.
11/26/2024
Jesus didn't promise us a life without conflict, but He did promise us peace in the middle of it.
11/25/2024
With so many traditions, travel, meals, and memories to be made, it can be easy to feel anxious and overwhelmed by what is ahead. However, God teaches us in Philippians not to worry about anything but to pray and share our petitions with Him with gratitude.
11/24/2024
True thanksgiving, as a spiritual discipline, is not about what happens to us; it’s about who is with us.
11/23/2024
Things will get better because God is in control. Even if you are having a hard time finding anything to be thankful for, you can be thankful for God. He is our Almighty, Wonderful God and He is also our dearly loved friend.
11/22/2024
I pray you will open your eyes to God today while he holds your hand and heart through all the hard stuff surrounding you. Let’s choose thankfulness. It absolutely does help, dear friend.
11/21/2024
Let us be people who seek God daily with our full hearts, no matter what is swirling around us.
11/20/2024
Let’s choose thanksgiving. Like David, I believe we will sense a radical shift in our perspective as we cling to God’s character, whatever our current season.
11/19/2024
The holidays can remind us not only of who or what we've lost but of moments that still sting with disappointment, regret, or sadness.
11/18/2024
As you plan your holiday schedule, don’t shy away from challenging family gatherings. Before you go, pray each person will experience the love of God through you. Dress in God’s best and trust Him to give you patience and peace.
11/17/2024
Jesus showed us by the way He lived and loved that we have incredible gifts to offer, which cost us nothing but have eternal value. They offer someone a glimpse of Jesus—a glimpse of true hope, a glimpse of everlasting life, and a moment to see that they have eternal value in the eyes of their Creator.
11/16/2024
Seek solace in the good Lord and find unity through His strength.
11/15/2024
Growing up Southern means that taking a meal to others in need is as natural as breathing; it’s just something we do.
11/14/2024
If you are hurting today, if you are grieving, sit with Jesus. Remember the sacrifice He made for you. Read Psalm 23 and allow the truth of who God is to penetrate your weary soul.
11/13/2024
Addiction doesn’t have to be the defining voice in your life. Dare to believe this truth: God promises to work through the prayers of the faithful. God promises to be endlessly forgiving and eternally patient. God promises to heal.
11/12/2024
It's hard to find joy when you're struggling, especially when everyone around you seems so full of it.
11/11/2024
Today and every day, we enjoy great freedom because of the service and sacrifices made by men and women on our behalf.
11/10/2024
The best way to help you get over your hurt is to pray that the Lord will bless the person who has hurt you.
11/09/2024
As long as there’s breath in your lungs, it’s not too late to seek the Lord. He is waiting; you just have to open the door and let him in.
11/08/2024
There is always hope because there is always help—help that is holding you and will never let you go—the sovereign help of our all-powerful, unconditionally loving Father.
11/07/2024
We know that God is a God who heals. However, we also know that He does not heal everyone. Some people experience miraculous healing, and others pass on too young. We don’t understand this side of heaven, but we can still trust that God is in control, that God sees us, and that He is always with us.
11/06/2024
Let's ask God now for his help to direct our prayers and bring people and situations to our minds to pray for and about.
11/05/2024
Grief can strike hard out of nowhere, and during the holiday season, it can be especially painful. But even in the heaviest moments, God offers His peace—a peace that surpasses all understanding.
11/04/2024
With all the controversy and issues surrounding American voting over the years, many individuals, including some Christians, may wonder if it even matters if they vote. Still, as Christians, we are called to vote in a way that honors, pleases, and reflects God’s ways.
11/03/2024
Lifting our eyes to God has a divine way of lifting our eyes above the storm, redirecting our gaze to the good around us, and refilling our hearts with a joy that can easily be lost in the struggles of life.
11/02/2024
Trust in Jesus and God’s sovereignty gives us hope, which sustains and lifts us up no matter the storms we must weather, worldwide or individually. Jesus is the master of all.
11/01/2024
God is calling you to welcome His love into your marriage too. Place Him at the center of your sacred union.
10/31/2024
Though there is evil in our world, the Lord is greater, and He can keep our children safe. The Lord is good, and He is ever-present. Whether we are with our kids or not, Jesus is by their side.
10/30/2024
As you face the things that are before you today, keep your eyes on Jesus. You do not need to fear or be dismayed. God has a plan for you.
10/29/2024
Close your eyes and inhale the truth of God’s constant presence and protection right now. Feel it flow through you like a steady, serene river flooding peace in and through your life. He. Is. Here.
10/28/2024
God can meet your child where they are and minister to them in ways that we cannot fathom. A prayerful parent is a powerful one.
10/27/2024
Authentic Christian faith is about accepting Jesus as he comes to us. Do you receive him as he presents himself to you?
10/26/2024
Next time you face a difficult decision, precisely one where whatever you choose will be beneficial, take time and ask the Lord for discernment. Lean into the Holy Spirit, listen for the ways He speaks to your heart, and whatever you decide, glorify the Lord.
10/25/2024
What does it take to deepen and strengthen our faith? 2 Timothy 4:7 likens our faith to running a race: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
10/24/2024
Worrying does nothing to benefit our lives in any way; it only takes away. It takes away the present moments and present joy you could experience, not to mention it takes away from a peaceful life.
10/23/2024
The temptation to be lazy is ever-present. Just like any sin, laziness is exchanging long-term benefits for partaking in temporary pleasure. It is a seemingly easy road, but it leads to consequences.
10/22/2024
My prayer today is that you will trust God even in the midst of financial strain. May we be reminded that God can provide all that we need and that we can trust Him, even in our finances.
10/21/2024
Friend, in these wildly crazy times, we must cling to the truth that our God is still in control (Proverbs 19:21), and His plan holds a much greater purpose.
10/20/2024
God doesn’t call us because we have it all figured out or because we are perfect in our faith. And so, accepting our calling isn’t dependent upon some criteria of perfection we must meet. Ultimately, accepting our call isn’t an act of spiritual power; it’s one of trust.
10/19/2024
Today, we will examine the seven things the Lord detests, as well as their counterparts, in the hope of living lives that are sweet aromas (Philippians 4:18) to the Lord.
10/18/2024
All we have to do is look around at creation and be amazed. If this is the fallen version of God’s creation, what must the pre-Adam fall have looked like?
10/17/2024
It’s easy to look back on your life and have regrets. Sometimes, you regret things you did or wish you made different decisions, and then there are other times you regret the things you didn’t do. But the truth is, you can’t change the past, no matter how hard you try.
10/16/2024
What can you do when someone you love dies? I once asked John that same question, and his answer was simple. You thank God that they have been in your life, and you trust them to Him.
10/15/2024
Being created in God’s image, we have a plan and purpose for our lives (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 57:2, Jeremiah 29:11). That promise should give us hope and the confidence to step into the future, so why do we remain stuck? The answer is clear. We are in a spiritual battle.
10/14/2024
Though we may feel broken and alone, we must know that God alone can heal our pain. He can bring us clarity on how we can show up better for those in our lives. He can also bring people into our lives that will reflect His love towards us.
10/13/2024
So often in my parenting journey, I have not chosen wisely. But God is gracious and repoints my mind and heart to his ways. His ways are the right ways to reach my parenting goals.
10/12/2024
God, help us to move toward people who need our help, love, and care, taking action to comfort them.
10/11/2024
What does it mean to have childlike faith to become like little children in the kingdom of God? How do we achieve it? What steps do we need to take to walk in it? As adults, how do we move past all the voices that have been telling us throughout our lives that we need to “grow up” and “stop behaving like a child”?
10/10/2024
Have you experienced, or are you facing right now, some uncertain life changes? Are you dealing with feelings of fear, discontentment, or discomfort through it, like I am?
10/09/2024
Biblical heroes had seasons that didn’t make sense at the time, but God had a purpose in it all, and he does for us, too.
10/08/2024
Today, we are going to take time to pray to stay grounded in moments of success. We have seen many examples of what to do and not to do within the pages of Scripture. May we remember that all of the glory belongs to the Lord
10/07/2024
Irrational fear and anxiety are among the many ways the enemy tries to shackle us. As believers, we serve the One true King. His ways, plans, and purposes for our lives will never be thwarted. We have to trust Him because He knows best.
10/06/2024
Receiving forgiveness for ourselves softens the hardness of our hearts that unforgiveness creates within us. It’s the key to cultivating it for those around us.
10/05/2024
Staying on the path of righteousness takes work; many distractions and hindrances exist. But, each day, we have a choice: will we choose God and His ways, which are better than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), or the way of the world that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14)?
10/04/2024
You have the chance to be great at faith, trusting in what you can’t see and in Whom you believe. So keep taking steps forward, allowing God’s glory to come behind your messes to orchestrate miracles.
10/03/2024
The psalmist knew exactly where to go with his problem. When he didn’t have the answer, he knew God would give him guidance.
10/02/2024
God’s Word demonstrates that He can heal all our wounds and reminds us He uses various measures to do so. Will we humbly welcome the physical or emotional healing we desperately desire?
10/01/2024
How we begin our days is so important. I find for myself that if I begin my day scrolling needlessly on my phone before even getting out of bed, I start my day feeling guilty and unproductive. Our phones, although can be used for God’s purposes, have a way of sucking life out of us before our feet even hit the ground.
09/30/2024
Whether you are just getting more in the habit of practicing daily thankfulness or a specific experience has propelled you into celebration, we are going to worship God together in prayer today for the gift that is gratitude.
09/29/2024
Not only does God call us to a community of believers in the local church, but he calls us to cultivate an individual relationship with him. He desires our hearts, our lives, and our worship. We are wrong to think worship is merely the twenty to forty minutes of music during a church service when it’s really a way of life.
09/28/2024
Our lives and our faith serve a purpose. We are not saved simply to avoid eternal damnation. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can share the gospel message, making and teaching disciples.
09/27/2024
The truth is many who enter church are Christians simply moving from one flock to another trying to find the church that feels like a better fit for them. Although we welcome everyone, I always wonder when the day will come that church members would bring in non-believing friends so that they may be in a room full of people who want to see them know the Lord!
09/26/2024
Change can be both challenging and rewarding. Sometimes, we may welcome it, while other times, we may resist it. If you are facing change today, take heart. Seeking God's wisdom and guidance gives us the confidence to embrace it with an open heart.
09/25/2024
Jesus is our only source who will bear fruit that lasts, fruit that is bubbling and overflowing. Let’s start attaching to Jesus more in all we do and experience more fruit that never runs dry.
09/24/2024
Whether your crossroad decision pertains to something simple, like the day’s agenda, or something weightier, like how best to educate your children, we need help sorting through all the options to find the best path for our lives.
09/23/2024
When we need wisdom on how to find peace, there is one place we can look to find the answers. We can look to Jesus. He gives us instructions on how to act so we can have quiet, simple lives. It’s not always easy, but it is possible to find the grace to muddle through conflicts that inevitably come up in our relationships.
09/22/2024
Whether we feel more comfortable sitting with our heads bowed and hands folded in worship, or in singing, dancing, and raising our hands, worship can take on forms that are not coming sincerely from truly devoted hearts but rather from pressure to follow certain acceptable outward expressions.
09/21/2024
How can we maintain the tension of embracing new beginnings with hope without diminishing our hesitation to believe everything always ends up working out wonderfully?
09/20/2024
We are able to be filled by His Spirit each day, enabling us to take on the biggest challenges in life with His strength.
09/19/2024
One morning, in my study of 1 Thessalonians, I read these words from Paul in 5:1-11, lingering over our key verse, “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.” As he often does, Paul reminds believers that they are soldiers in God’s army and must prepare and protect themselves for battle.
09/18/2024
Humility is expressed through the fruits of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control are all ways that we show others God’s goodness through our actions. When we seek to embody these fruits, we are living in alignment with God’s way.
09/17/2024
Family is a precious gift from God. Our homes should be a place of comfort, nurturing, and leading others to a life with Jesus.
09/16/2024
When opportunities arise, and it is in our purview to help, let us be people who look at serving others as a privilege and not a penalty for following Christ.
09/15/2024
Friends, the Lord is good to those who wait for Him, and we will reap a harvest if we don't give up. Just because it has not come yet and we have had to wait longer than we would like, it does not mean the Lord has forgotten you or that He is not listening.
09/14/2024
For Christians, fall, or harvest time, is a season of spiritually gathering up all that we’ve planted and watered. It's a time when we see how God has brought growth through our prayers.
09/13/2024
Living in this world full of influencers and imposter syndrome can easily leave us feeling cynical and defeated. But, God calls us to more. He calls us, as His chosen children, to be lights in the world.
09/12/2024
Today’s Scripture talks about casting all your worries and cares to God because He cares for us. Let’s dive deeper and let today’s verse sink in some more.
09/11/2024
The first step to cultivating a Spirit of adventure in faith is learning to say “yes” to God even when we don’t have all the answers. Faith action reflects an obedient heart, and obedient hearts emerge from quality time spent with God in prayer and His Word.
09/08/2024
Heartache can make us feel lonely as if no one cares or understands what we’re going through. Those negative thoughts mislead us into thinking God isn’t there, and we are left to struggle alone. But the soul-satisfying truth is that God wants to see us whole. He is a God who heals, comforts, and restores our brokenness.
09/07/2024
The greatest cure and medicine for sadness and all the feelings it may lead to is the Word of God. The Word of God seeps into dry and lonely places and fills them. The more you drink from the Word of God and even digest it, the more your soul is saturated, and the more your sadness leaves you.
09/06/2024
Courage and confidence are things we, with the help of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word, can build.
09/05/2024
He is faithful in showing Himself to us day in and day out. We need to be faithful to show up for Him to learn more about His heart and desires for us and those He has entrusted to our care.
09/04/2024
The more I give thanks in hard seasons, the more I find things to be grateful for.
09/03/2024
God has a purpose and a season for everything. Perhaps this is a season for you to learn how to move on to welcome new people into your life. He will give you the grace, the power, and the strength to let go and to receive the new friends He brings along your path.
09/01/2024
Friend, the truth is that life will be filled with tumultuous highs and lows, which is a certainty, but God promises to see us through and provide us wisdom when we come to Him in prayer. That is so comforting!
08/31/2024
It’s in the overloaded, weighed-down moments we all must remember to place our trust in God. He knew this was all going to happen. He did. He also knows what’s going to happen next. And he knows, ultimately, all things work for the good of those who love him.
08/30/2024
Being so excited about one thing that hasn’t come to fruition yet has made me less excited about other areas of my life, too. I stopped being excited about life, and in a sense, I stopped living.
08/26/2024
Friends, when we look to him in our weakness, he certainly does show up. He may not necessarily resolve your own personal weakness by empowering you with strength in the way you are hoping, though he might. But, many times it will be through the aid of another of his children.
08/25/2024
Did you know sheep need to be directed to good pasture and must be moved to new pasture after they’ve exhausted the nutrients in the current field? They can’t find the best pasture without direction, and they would overstay if their shepherd didn’t intervene. God moves us to new pastures when needed, but in our stubbornness, we sometimes resist.
08/24/2024
The older I get, the more dependent I become on my quiet morning conversations with God through prayer and His Word. As the decades drift by and my daughters grow up, I cling to His promises of hope, joy, peace, and wisdom. He is faithful in replacing my scattered thoughts and schedules with His grand plan for the day and my life.
08/23/2024
There are some parts of this life I truly believe God didn't intend for us to have figured out. I assume you know what I mean; we all have those 100 questions we'd love to ask God.
08/22/2024
Our God is not a wasteful God; He is a purposeful God. Just as the wilderness was Jesus’ launching pad, what if it is ours too?
08/21/2024
If you are sensing some sort of disconnect from God but desperately long to feel the grace, comfort, and peace of his sweet presence, will you remember that he is just as connected to you in the seeming distance as he is in the moments you experience his greatest intimacy?
08/20/2024
If you need joy, God promises that it is available to you. Find hope in the truth that nights don’t last forever. One day, the night will be no more, but for now, the sunrise will come. The light and fresh air offer hope and beauty that our souls need. Take heart; the morning is coming soon, my friend.
08/17/2024
It can be hard to navigate certain relationships. However, it's important to remember that regardless of what someone else has said or done to us, we are responsible before God for our actions. Please know this does not mean that if you've gotten out of an abusive relationship, you should forgive and walk back into it.
08/16/2024
Have you ever pressured yourself to do better, to be better, and to act better? Hard pressure ventures us outside the boundary lines of God’s easy-yoke grace.
08/15/2024
When you feel like your own strength is failing, call out to Jesus. When you feel like the world and all its expectations are crushing you, call out to Jesus. When you feel like you can't go on, call out to Jesus.
08/14/2024
The enemy wants you to adopt this mindset of more. He wants you focused on material things and what money might let you borrow and buy. He wants you so focused to the point of disappointment and absolute distraction that you forget where the actual good life is found.
08/13/2024
Today as we pray about overcoming our doubts and embracing faith, may we remember that Christ cares about our every concern. He loves us and He is able to do more than we could ever ask or imagine by His power.
08/09/2024
We have the opportunity to share the greatest news of all with people who need hope, who need to know grace is available to them, and that they are loved more deeply than they could ever begin to imagine. In the same breath we also have the opportunity to share our testimony, the story God has given us, to reveal to them why we needed Jesus to go to the cross.
08/08/2024
We can trust that what God allows will be what’s best and be confident in what he has ahead through the uncertainty. The truth is, he has you on the perfect path.
