Can God forget?

“God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.” Exodus 2:24 NIV

Does God have selective memory? All the years that Israel has been in slavery in Egypt, and I'm sure they have had periods of time when the oppression of their task masters have been sever that they cried out of God.  Let me present in a better way.

History shows that although they were in Egypt they prospered under the previous pharaohs; they owned land, had business paid taxes and helped the economy of Egypt. In other words as Egypt prospered they showed a profit too. However, at some point before the birth of Moses things began to change and the new pharaoh imposed a hardship on the children of Israel that took all those rights away and began killing all the males for population and economic control.

Let me answer the question- No God does not have selective memory, He waits for His children to stop being comfortable, and to become aware that it does not take adversity to drive them to Him. It takes them reminding their God of His covenant with them.
