Get up and pursue

Genesis 35:5

“And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.”

 

This is the first time we see the word pursue in the Bible. Jacob has met with his brother Esau after he had a change of name. In this passage of scripture  he is given another encounter with God. After his sons disgraced and kill the men who raped their sister. Fear is upon the surrounding cities of this small group of family who have God on their side.

 

God tells him to clean the camp of all foreign Gods and everything that his people have that represent false gods. Wash themselves and put on clean clothes to go up to Bethel. Jacob called it the place where God appeared. 

 

My friend the enemy has a false representation of you, they may shame you, destroy your honor and make you feel insignificant because of your number or the people that choose to stand with you.

 

My word of encouragement to you-

Let the word get out that God is on your side, and watch your enemies be in terror of you. There is coming a season where they will not torment you or pursue you because of the victory that is coming your way.
