Money is a root of all sorts of family problems. Many families are in financial bondage. Surveys of married couples find the major troublemaker in homes today is not sex, children, or in‑laws—it’s money. Satan’s plan is to keep families in financial bondage.
The most influential people on earth aren’t presidents, CEOs, or billionaires, but parents of faith. Your family is the world’s most critical classroom, where the next generation is trained to love one another, become productive adults, and know God. It takes a family to raise a child, and families change the village.
Someone has said the difference between courtship and marriage is the difference between pictures in the seed catalog and what comes up. Some of us have been disappointed by what comes up in our homes. Maybe we need to learn how to cultivate a marriage.
It’s possible for you to personally know God, the mighty Creator who hung the stars in place. He has made Himself accessible to each of us. But consider for a moment His creation—so vast, astronomers estimate about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (that's 1 billion trillion) stars are in the observable universe! Yet the One who put them there wants a relationship with each of us. If He didn’t, He wouldn’t have made us in the first place (Genesis 1:26). And He wouldn’t have sent His Son (1 John 4:10) to make our relationship with Him possible.

We all have trials in our lives. But many committed, earnest Christians experience somethingthat goes beyond just feeling “down.” It’s depression.
In football, this quote is attributed to Coach Darrell Royal: “When you throw a pass, three things can happen, and two of them are bad.” In the battle with temptation, people try to conquer temptation three ways, and two of them are wrong: give in, fight in your own strength, or follow Jesus’ example.
“So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid” But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” (John 6:19-20)
The days are too long, the nights too short, there’s too much to do and not enough time. Do you feel like the chief rat in the rat race?
We’re on a collision course with destiny. We live between two mountain peaks: Jesus’ first coming and His second coming. What a glorious time to be alive. We can’t afford to be indifferent or ignorant, for His return imminent.
It happened when I was a young teenager. I’ll never forget. After 5 long years of war, the Japanese surrendered. There was no internet or 24/7 TV news. We heard it on our radios. We all came out in the streets and celebrated the victory. That day was named “V-J” Day. Some folks now in their 80s will remember it.
In the classic story of Beauty and the Beast, “Beauty” was genuinely beautiful inside and out, while the Beast looked like a monster but was beautiful within. Revelation chapter 17 describes two mysterious creatures who rise to world power, but both are monsters. Most people looking at Revelation with all its beasts and creatures back away, saying, “I can’t make heads or tails of this.” But these two important creatures aren’t all that mysterious when we understand who they are. I call them “Beauty and the Beast.”
Quick question: Apart from Jerusalem, what city gets the most mentions in the Bible? If you answered “Babylon,” you’re right. It’s second only to the Holy City. But this one is the unholy city, and we’re about to bid it goodbye—forever.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give Him glory: for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife [the Church] has made herself ready. (Revelation 19:7)
Anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see storm clouds gathering. We all know we’re running out of time. Current events are markers along the way, pointing to the coming Battle of Armageddon. But there is a God, and He’s in control, no matter what.
Did you know a time will come on Earth when the Garden of Eden will be restored? A golden age is coming when there’ll be no more poverty, prison, mental institutions, or army bases. Can you imagine no violence or crime?
A time is coming when God will put the final period upon the final page, upon the final book of human history, and those who are not Christians, whether they die or are still alive, will face the '“Great White Throne”—final judgment.
With the Holy Spirit inspiring each word, the Apostle John dipped his pen in golden glory and from that parchment page we read exactly what Heaven looks like. We walk golden streets, hearing sounds we’ve never heard before.
Have you ever turned to the last pages of a book to see how it ends because you couldn’t wait any longer?
People ask, “What can we do with this generation? How will we rescue them? We’d better try something new.” I disagree. We’d better try something old: return to the truth in the Word of God.
It was Mother’s Day afternoon when Joyce and I lost our baby Philip to crib death. As we drove later that day to be with our family, we passed by the little church I pastored, holding its evening service. We heard them singing, “No, never alone. He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone.” I would not take anything for the conscious presence of God.
What do you do when everything is coming at you, and you don’t know whether to hold on or let go? You’re doing nothing wrong, applying proper principles, but being battered from every side.
Do you have trouble understanding the Bible? Let me give you the golden key to unlock the mystery: all the Bible, every page, is ultimately about one man, one person, Jesus. Once you understand this, what seemed puzzling will start to make sense.
God wants every man, woman, and child to be saved so badly, He went to extraordinary lengths to give us pictures, glimpses, analogies in the Bible of how our salvation was won.
Man is the only creature who knows he’s going to die, and he’s trying desperately to forget it. Fear of death keeps people in bondage. But Jesus came to deliver you from that fear.
Marriages may be “made in heaven,” but the battlefield for a good marriage is here on earth. Men, I want to tell you what I’ve learned about being a husband and father because I sincerely believe the problem in most homes is probably a drop-out dad who’s failing to be what God designed him to be. I want to give you five things from the Word of God to begin doing now, so when all’s said and done, you’ll be a successful husband and dad.
1 Peter 3:7-9

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:7-9
Within this one passage are five ways to be a successful husband and “dwell with understanding.”
1. Practice togetherness
The deepest need of a woman’s heart is to have an intimate relationship with her husband. People think “intimacy” refers only to sex, but “intimate” means opening up and sharing your inmost life. Becoming one in marriage has many facets.
Verbal—learn to listen and share your hopes, plans, and dreams. No more “I’m the silent type.”
Emotional—Laugh together, cry together, share fears, heartaches, joys.
Intellectual—Share ideas, books, politics, theology—your deepest thoughts.
Social—Enjoy mutual friends and recreation.
Spiritual—Pray and talk about the things of God with her.
Physical—All these enhance physical intimacy, where two become one flesh.
If you want to be a successful husband, learn to practice all of these.
2. Be understanding.
Live together with good sense. Understand our differences. Accept that we’re wired differently as part of God’s wonderful plan and learn to adjust. We’re equal but not identical, having the same worth but different functions.
3. Honor her
She has exceedingly great value. She’s a meal planner, cook, nurse, counselor, comforter, wardrobe consultant, seamstress, maid, teacher, cheerleader and spiritual advisor. Give her the recognition she’s due.
Put her on a pedestal.
Let the children know how much you love and honor her.
Praise her in front of her friends.
Verbalize those character traits that make her the wonderful person she is.
4. Share freely with her.
We have equal inheritance as children of God (Galatians 3:28). She’s your full partner. Treat her thusly, “…that your prayers may not be hindered” (1 Peter 3:7). Learn to pray with her. Most of us men fail here. A woman wants her husband to pray with her.
5. Deal gently with her
…7 as to the weaker vessel…
Not the inferior vessel. A porcelain teacup is more fragile than a sledgehammer, but it’s of more value.
Be compassionate. Let her know when she hurts, you hurt. Love her as your own body. Your best friend should be your wife.
Be courteous. Courtesy is love in little things.
Give your children the best gift you could ever give: the love, joy, fun, and the future we have in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Live intimately with her
Be understanding of her
Give honor to her
Share fully with her
Deal gently with her
The closest thing we have to paradise today is a Christian home.
But you can’t have a Christian home without Christians any more than you could have a cherry pie without cherries. You must give your heart to Jesus Christ.
If you’d like to pray to accept Christ as your personal Savior, follow the prayer at this link.
I’m concerned—not just about America today, but America tomorrow and the generation to come. We’re in great danger. How much longer we will survive? For many years America has been #1 economically, but that could change on a dime. What will America be like ten, fifteen, twenty years from now if Jesus hasn’t returned by then? I’d rather leave our children a legacy of great godly principles than great wealth, squandered in a godless society.
We’re at a point in history where we must pray for revival. We dare not be lackadaisical. Only serious commitment in prayer can hold back God’s judgment on the floodtide of sin and release His cleansing, healing hand. Dr. Francis Schaeffer said, “One day soon, if we do not change, we’ll wake up to find the America we once knew is gone.”
What does God say about Christian citizenship—our responsibilities, our duties, our rights? Is the Bible against participating in politics? What are Christians to do and think about politics?
There’s both a moral crisis and a leadership crisis in America. Leadership is crucial. If our leadership is not what it should be, what will the people be like? God is greatly interested in a nation’s political life. Some say God ought to stay out of government, but the truth is, government must always look to Almighty God.
I still believe America is the greatest nation on earth today, not because of our natural resources, skills, or brainpower, but for just one reason: God blessed America because it began as no other nation since Israel. Yet now our nation is in peril. What can we do to save America?
I’m grateful for our schools and for dedicated teachers, but there are some things no teacher or professor can impart to you. God created us with a body, soul and spirit. You can’t learn spiritual truth from those who don’t understand it.
Soon after Jesus began his public ministry, a well-known Jewish leader, Nicodemus, visited Him privately under cover of night. If anyone should have known God, Nicodemus would be your guy. He was a ruler of the Jews, member of the Sanhedrin, among the most religious, the most moral. Yet Jesus gave Nicodemus a divine imperative: “You must be born again.”
One of the great promises of God is that we can know for certain we’re saved. If you are saved, you ought to know it. If not, you need to be saved so you can know it. The truth is, you can know beyond any doubt that you’re saved.
Do you know where God lives? Where is God’s home? A beautiful church building? The Bible reveals God has lived in a series of homes, moving in and moving out. When He moves in, if the home is defiled by the owner, God moves out. He hasn’t seemed to stay put in one particular place—until recently. So where does God live now?
“…avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science, falsely so-called, which some professing have erred concerning the faith.” 1 Timothy 6:20-21
People always want to know the future. They look around at our world and ask, “Is this the beginning of the end?”
Today I see something that disturbs me greatly: America is moving away from our foundation. We no longer agree about basic truths of right and wrong. Some find it too hard to stand firm in an increasingly pagan world. Pundits proclaim this nation’s moral and spiritual foundations were fraudulent. Many people still believe the Bible is the Word of God and Jesus is the only Savior, but it’s not a majority anymore.
They shall throw you down into the Pit,and you shall die the death of the slain in the midst of the seas.(Ezekiel 28:8)
What could the four lies that ruined the world be? Communism? Humanism? New-ageism (or a whole bunch more ism’s)? Evolution? Four lies bigger than all of these came straight from Satan at the dawn of time in Genesis 3:1-5:
At Love Worth Finding, we join with many other ministries at this crucial time, calling upon God’s people to pray. His people must repent and seek His face if our nation is to survive. Adrian Rogers addressed this need in the following message.
What does God say about Christian citizenship—our responsibilities, our duties, our rights? Is the Bible against participating in politics? What are Christians to do and think about politics?
Our beloved nation is in crisis. One by one, lights of decency and hope are being extinguished. One day calamity will certainly come. We’ll dial 9-1-1, but there’ll be no answer. Then we’ll fill our churches and turn our eyes upward, but our prayers won’t be answered (1 Samuel 8:18).
No matter where you turn in God's Word, you’ll find that Christmas is about light, for Jesus is the Light of the world.
Can you imagine a place designed for you by someone who loved you so much He gave His Son to die for you?
Can God be good if He lets people die and go to Hell when they’ve never once heard of Jesus?
The word Gospel* means good news, and we’ve got the best news of all: Jesus Christ has conquered sin, death, Hell, and the grave, and we can live forever with Him. That's good news. When you have good news, you tell it.
You may not know it, but God made a blood covenant with you when you were saved. Christmas and God’s covenant are locked together. The whole Bible is about His blood covenant, beginning with Abraham in the Old Testament (Genesis 15:9-21), continuing through the New Testament.
At Christmas we focus on the miracle of the Virgin Birth—the God of creation came to Earth and was “manifested in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16). But the Virgin Birth isn’t the only miracle we should think about this season.
The star of Bethlehem pointed the way. Shepherds worshiped; angels sang—but there’s a darker side to Christmas involving not stars but scars.
Many people have asked, “Just who is Jesus Christ?” A cover of Life magazine once featured a painting representing Jesus with three words superimposed across it: “WHO WAS HE?” That’s the wrong question. They should ask, “WHO IS HE?” The world will never answer the sin question until it answers the Son question: Who is Jesus?
The question pastors get asked more than anything else is not “Where did Cain get his wife?” but “How can I know God’s will for my life?” Nobody wants to waste time going down the wrong path to a dead end. We want to be in His will. We know that’s where we’ll be happiest, most fulfilled, and above all, most pleasing to God. How can you find the will of God for your life?
Have you been to a film or stage play where you got so caught up in the drama, you had to take a moment when it ended to remember it wasn’t real? The world’s stage is set for the drama of the ages, only this one won’t be make-believe. Too many Christians today are troubled and jittery. They don’t have a steadfast hope in this shaky world.
Just before Jesus was crucified, He stood before Pontius Pilate to be judged. Would He be found worthy of the death penalty? Or would He be released? The bogus charges under which He was arrested had Pilate wondering just what Jesus could have done to create such a ruckus. While questioning Him, Pilate turned to the crowd and asked the world’s most important question—a question every person has to answer: “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”
When Monday morning rolls around, do you say, “Good morning, Lord” or “Good Lord, is it morning?”
Someone has said the difference between courtship and marriage is the difference between pictures in the seed catalog and what comes up. Some of us have been disappointed by what comes up in our homes. Maybe we need to learn how to cultivate a marriage.
The most influential people on earth aren’t presidents, CEOs, or billionaires, but parents of faith. Your family is the world’s most critical classroom, where the next generation is trained to love one another, become productive adults, and know God. It takes a family to raise a child, and families change the village.
Money is a root of all sorts of family problems. Many families are in financial bondage. Surveys of married couples find the major troublemaker in homes today is not sex, children, or in‑laws—it’s money. Satan’s plan is to keep families in financial bondage.
The “village” has it backwards! When we get it right at home, we bless our children and transform cultures. When the family is weakened, society suffers. This four-booklet collection covers God’s plan for husbands and fathers, wives and mothers, and children. Trusted pastor, author, and teacher Adrian Rogers addresses everything from spiritual and emotional nurturing to physical fitness and family fun.
