Is Church Membership Biblical or Just a Tradition?

In this Q&A, Pastor Mike explains what church membership really means from a biblical perspective. He clarifies that the word member comes from the Bible’s picture of the church as a body, a flock, or a building—not from paperwork or classes. While Scripture does not command formal membership classes, Pastor Mike explains why submitting to church leadership and following a church’s process can still be wise and obedient, especially in light of Hebrews 13:17. About Pastor Mike Fabarez

Mike Fabarez is the founding pastor of Compass Bible Church in South Orange County, California and has been in pastoral ministry for more than 30 years.
