Giver of All Good
The Bible tells us that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father” (Jms.1:17). God is certainly benevolent and generous to us. He gives a variety of good things, from the gift of life in a newborn baby, to the satisfying experience of a good meal after a long day’s work. No matter how profound or how seemingly mundane, the good we experience comes from the mind and intentionality of a good God.
One of the reasons the connection between the good gifts and the generous Giver is so critically important to keep in mind is because, like spoiled and presumptuous children, we can easily become ingrates. Thanksgiving is not an extracurricular activity reserved for the deeply pious or the overly thoughtful. Being purposefully thankful is at the heart of true Christianity.
To celebrate the redemption of Christ, or to be grateful for a good night’s sleep is a reflection of our awareness that God is God, and that we are utterly dependent on his kindness. So today, be cognizant of the blessings that God is dispensing in your life, and take the time to express your sincere gratitude to the Giver of all good things.

As Christians, we are called to bear much fruit and prove our devotion to God, but how can we distinguish between genuine discipleship and hypocrisy? A closer examination of Jesus' teachings and the lives of those who claim to follow him reveals a stark contrast between outward appearances and inner transformation.

As we read the Bible, our impatient nature can lead us to rush through stories of human crises, missing out on the valuable lessons about patience and waiting on God. By slowing down and experiencing these stories as they were intended, we can learn to trust in God's timing and find comfort in His call for us to wait patiently on Him.

The Apostle Paul's approach to apologetics and discipleship serves as a powerful model for individuals to engage their own thoughts and feelings with biblical truth. By recognizing the insidious influence of Satan in shaping our minds, Christians can develop a critical awareness of their inner struggles and learn to counter self-serving "arguments" and "lofty opinions" with the truth of God's word.

Mature Christians are called to give thanks not only for the good things they experience in life, but also for the blessings they will receive in the next life. Practicing gratitude ahead of time can produce a current surplus of endurance, patience and joy, helping believers navigate trials and ultimately enjoy an "incomparable" inheritance with God.

Christians are often misunderstood as being illogical in their reliance on the Bible, but a thoughtful examination reveals that it is actually supremely logical and reasonable to consider the scripture as God's authoritative voice. By understanding the universe as the product of a transcendent and personal God who has intervened throughout history, Christians can logically defer to the Bible as the means through which God communicates with his creation.

The Bible promises that believers will experience sickness and pain, but this reality can be transformed by the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross. By understanding the root cause of suffering as a consequence of sin, Christians can find hope and assurance in their struggles, knowing that God's ultimate justice has been satisfied through Christ's sacrifice.

Christians often struggle to recognize the subtle forms of lying in their everyday conversations, including insincere compliments and embellished stories. By acknowledging the harm caused by these deceptions, believers can strive to cultivate "truthful lips" and avoid all forms of deception, as encouraged by God's word.

In today's digital age, the Bible's timeless principle of not taking to heart the opinions of others is more crucial than ever, as social media perpetually broadcasts our words for everyone to read and reread. By distinguishing between thoughtful reflection and impulsive reactions, we can learn to lightly esteem and quickly forget the hurtful comments that can weigh us down.
