What God Says about Your Body
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Every now and then, I’ll hear parents around our church talking to their unruly children. The child has misbehaved somehow within the confines of the church building, and the mom or dad will say, “How can you act like that? Don’t you know you’re in God’s house?”
I have to say that every time I hear the church building referred to as “God’s house,” a little bit of a shudder goes up my spine. That’s because there’s nothing really special or magical about the bricks and sticks that make up a church building.
So what is God’s house? Where does God dwell? Well, in the Old Testament, the temple in Jerusalem was known as God’s house because in it was the Holy of Holies where the glory of God would dwell. Yet, at the death of Christ, the temple veil was torn (Matthew 27:51), which meant that God’s special presence was no longer a geographic location.
The house of God, according to today’s Scripture, is now our very bodies if we’re in Christ. That’s because at the moment of belief, the Spirit of God comes to dwell in our hearts and takes up residence in our lives.
The church building is not the house of God. The people of the church are the house of God. So when you feel tempted to sin, remember who lives in you and gives you the power to resist!
WHEN YOU’RE TEMPTED TO SIN, REMEMBER THAT GOD LIVES IN YOU AND GIVES YOU THE POWER TO OVERCOME.

The people of the church are the house of God.
We must communicate the right idea of God from the Word of God… no compromises!
If you’re in Christ, you’ll never experience God’s wrath.
Perhaps you’ve noticed as you’ve looked at the Bible that within its pages, there’s never once an argument for the existence of God.
Never forget your true north…it’s the very character of Christ Himself.
As you step into a new year this week, put your focus on one thing you want to do well in the coming year. Resolve to make a deep impact in one place.
God has given each of us a certain number of minutes with which we’re able to make an impact in the world.
The message of Christmas is the message of the cradle, the cross, and the crown. The cradle because God became a man in Christ. But the wood of the cradle touches the wood of the cross, where that man died for the forgiveness of our sins.
Every Christmas morning before any presents were opened, our family would spend some time opening God's Word.
In Christ, you can overcome the darkness and have victory over sin and death.
The Scripture tells us that God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.
These humble, lowly men had jobs that kept them away from their families, and were essentially nomadic as they followed their flocks around day and night. It was a lonely, poor life… a humble audience for the very first Christmas carol ever sung.
We have no hope of escaping death on our own.
I appeal to you, brothers... that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you (1 Cor. 1:10). I think we can safely say Black Friday is usually not marked by a spirit of Christian unity, even though it’s supposed to kick off the Christmas season.
When it comes to sharing their testimonies of faith, many Christians are sinfully silent. But a testimony of the thankfulness you have for what Christ has done for you is the most powerful evangelism tool you have.
Wisdom without God is temporal. But godly wisdom informs us for this life and the life to come.
Do you know who gets the most out of the messages I preach? It's not the person on the front row. It's me!
Several years ago, the Lord really impressed upon me that I was too consumed with ministry. Like any job, ministry can become such a part of your life that it starts to become and idol. And chief among the things that were being sacrificed to that idol was my marriage.
Love one another with kindness and compassion.
Any chance you had of getting to heaven on your own was destroyed by sin. But Christ destroyed the power of sin on the cross to give you eternal life if you’ll only trust in Him.
What do you think is the one thing that really brings about joy and passion in our lives?
Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God (1 John 4:1). With such a powerful enemy against us, how do we have any hope of victory in spiritual warfare?
Desires are normal. Search God’s Word and discover what glorifies Him. Understand He’s created you with desires
The devil never gives up territory without a fight.
Don’t let the sovereignty of God be an excuse for passiveness.
Be obedient to the ministry where God has called you, and trust in Him to bring people to Christ, whether it be many or few.
A fisher of men is someone who looks at the lost people around him or her and sees future disciples of Jesus Christ.
Look to those who've gone before you and follow their example!
Don’t try to do life alone. There are no ‘Lone Rangers’ of the Christian faith.
The power of Christ in you will overcome the enemy at every turn!
The place to begin sharing God’s truth is at home. That’s where we’re to live authentically...
I sit in my office every week with people who are trying to live life without the instructions.
Our God is a global God.
Unless Christ returns, each and every single one of us will one day make that journey from this life to the next.
Share your story of faith with others and let them know how God has changed your life…and can change theirs too!
All it took was one little shoe cobbler in England to change the world for Christ.
As you look forward to your eternal home, remember what makes heaven heaven: Jesus.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere (James 3:17). Wisdom without God is temporal. But godly wisdom informs us for this life and the life to come.
You have nothing to offer God except what He’s already given you – a holy life.
Trust in Jesus, not religion, to save you!
What would it look like if the people of God lived with the same kind of self-sacrifice we expected from our soldiers?
Share the life-giving news of Christ and help set the captives free!
It’s amazing to me how many people today marry and divorce for such trivial reasons.
Men need community with other men.
Sadly, many people are more concerned with the decisions being made in Washington than they are with what's going on in their own home.
In a nation of workaholics, when it comes to faith, many of us are spectators rather than soldiers.
I love learning about some of the great heroes of the church and their attitudes in the face of so much hardship.
We love others well not by having every answer, but by stepping into their lives and bearing their burdens.
This is not our world; this is not our time; this is God’s Kingdom.
Do whatever you do to the utmost, using the gifts God has given you to make an impact for His name!
If we’re going to have unity in the church, we have to stay on mission
Choose life, even in the toughest circumstances.
Religion is spelled with two letters: D-O. Christianity is spelled with four letters: D-O-N-E.
On our own, our spiritual currency is worthless.
You have a role to play, and God wants you to play with passion and purpose. Get off the bench and get in the game for Christ!
The Gospel is Jesus Christ.
When we give our lives to Christ, we live for heavenly purposes.
Don't let petty things drive a wedge in the body of Christ.
Stuff can’t make you happy, but heavenly treasures will give you everlasting joy.
A conscience can only utilize the light that it’s been given.
One excuse I constantly hear for not sharing the Gospel is that people don’t know what to say.
Your life has meaning and purpose.
"Greet one another with a holy kiss."
The evidence that Jesus Christ is alive is indeed compelling!
When you’re not walking in the Spirit, you can’t receive everything God wants to give you!
You can be free of the power and the dominion of sin in your life!
In life, we’re going to encounter bumps and jagged rocks. We have to see those rocks not in terms of the damage they cause, but as stepping stones to a higher plane of living.
In Christ, you have the power to overcome because He has already overcome.
Many times in our lives, the very things we fear are acts of God Himself.
You may find yourself facing new challenges this year that you haven’t faced before. The good news is you can trust God to give you the strength you need as He works powerfully in your life. We’re excited to help you walk closer with the Lord this year by sending you Dr. Graham’s Moments in the Word 180-day devotional.
